The Tortoise and The Hare

7 December 2012

Training = confidence

If you need to get to a destination, you’re going to take the quickest, most efficient route.  That usually involves following directions on a map, staying on the right side of the road, obeying traffic rules, and staying alert.  If you think the best route to your destination is swerving from the left to the right side of the road at high speed, go right ahead, but don’t do it here.  None of us want to be your casualty or witness your high-speed accident.

Take a lesson from the Tortoise. He went only as fast as HE COULD. He took every step with deliberate intention, stayed focused on his goal, kept his attention only on himself, and won the race injury free. Master your skill, THEN go as fast as YOU can without sacrificing form and technique. And help each other: don’t let anyone be the Hare.  He’s a jerk.
